Sandalwood Oil

JAVA & TIMOR, INDONESIA

From Timor, at the heart of the Lesser Sunda Islands and the historic home of Santalum album, to the limestone hills of Gunung Sewu in Java, we develop our sourcing networks directly, close to where the trees grow.

The wood itself is precious, rare and slow to regenerate. It calls for respect and particular care during oil extraction to bring out its full character.

On arrival at our distillery, the wood is checked and sorted again by grade. Each grade is then distilled separately, following a process adapted to its characteristics and oil content.

Our distillations are gentle, lasting up to 120 hours at low pressure to achieve the olfactory profile we seek.

Each cycle continues for as long as oil droplets appear in the separator and ends only when the distillate is completely clear.

We deliberately keep our volumes limited, in line with the resource’s capacity to regenerate and our restoration efforts.
